Welcome Minister Prentice
On Tuesday 29th of August, DJ Health welcomed the Minister of Disability Services – Minister Prentice – who spent time with our clients and team, discussing recent reforms to the Disability Employment Services and associated programs. The Minister was also interested in gaining insights regarding our organisations’ experience with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS); the transition into NSW and preparations in QLD.
During this visit, Minister Prentice visited our valued clients at two of our residences in Ashmore, met all of our head office staff at our Labrador office and presented the winner for the In My Shoes competition. Further, she spent time with our Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and our two Area Managers for lengthy and valuable conversations regarding the disability industry and the transitions that we have experienced over the last few years and into the future.
The meeting was incredibly valuable and our team took the opportunity to raise concerns impacting our clients that may even help shape the NDIS. Minister Prentice provided some great feedback on reviews that are currently occurring across funding and operations at the National Disability Insurance Association (NDIA), and gave us some hints as to what we could expect in the future as the NDIS scheme continues to roll out.
As a result of the meeting’s success, our team were invited for a secondary meeting with the Minister in Canberra. We feel privileged that DJ Health has been identified as an organisation that is championing progress, innovation and setting the benchmark in quality service delivery for our clients.
